Feature Friday: Pike's Soda Shop

Happy Feature Friday, everybody! This week we’re excited to be telling you the story of Pike's Soda Shop! 🤤 Locally owned and operated by Constance Chitwood and her husband, Pike’s has been around since before the Light Rail and scooter riders sprawled among the streets. Constance and her husband decided to purchase Pike’s close to 17 years ago (aw moment--it was the first place they had lunch when they were dating! 😍) We asked her what her favorite part of being in South Endwas and she responded the energy stating, “you can almost feel a pulse on Friday or Saturday night with people walking around.”

Pike’s Soda Shop is known for the delicious comfort food they cook up fresh daily. Some favorites are their famous Honey Pecan Chicken, Shrimp and Grits, and as Constance said “where else can you get a Thanksgiving meal every day of the year?!” Desserts are made in house as well! Shakes are great but be sure to also try out the hand stirred Cherry Pepsi, Egg Creams, and Black Cows (handmade rootbeer float and banana splits). Constance is a native Charlottean and strives to not only support the local schools, charities, and events but strives to purchase locally as well. Not to mention their patio has some of the best people watching in town. From the Light Rail flying by, herds of runners, people scooting from one brewery to the next, or The Funny Bus driving by, you never know what you’ll see while you’re enjoying your meal!

Next time you're out and about in South End, make sure you stop in say hi, and enjoy a sweet treat on the patio! We promise you won't regret it.

Feature Friday: Owen's Bagel and Deli

It’s that time again-- Feature Friday and this week we’re talking Owen's Bagel and Deli 🤤Located almost directly across the street from The Mill, Owen’s Bagels and Deli is the home of Charlotte’s first and only ‘steamed bagel sandwich’ shop in the city! Owen’s has been in South End since 2005 so they’ve been around to watch all the growth in our neighborhood first hand.

All of the bagels on their menu are automatically steamed which melts all the cheese, warms the meat, and the bagel comes out nice and hot! We asked Owen’s what inspires them and they responded “making people change the way they look at an ordinary, boring ‘bagel sandwich’. We come up with some crazy combinations and ingredients to put on our bagels. AND THEY ARE BANGIN’!” Yes they are, guys, yes they are. 👌

If you haven’t had the chance to check this place out yet, you should go ahead and make that priority number one this weekend. They’re open Tues-Sunday from 7am-3pm and if you’re looking for a recommendation on what to try, you can never go wrong with ‘Lincoln Pork’ or 'Phish'!

Feature Friday: Bookout Blooms

Happy Friday everyone!  🤗 You know what time it is-- Feature Friday!

This week we're excited to introduce you to one of our first friends here in Atherton, Bookout Blooms! Bookout Blooms is located in Atherton Mills and owned by Ashley Bookout.

Ashley started out being a part of 'Atherton Farmers Market' and loved the area so much she decided to set up shop permanently. They offer a wide selection of fresh cut flowers, wedding consultations, and classes. Ashley was also named Charlotte's "Top 30 under 30" by Charlotte Agenda in 2017! We asked Ashley what her favorite part of being in South End is and her response was "the greenway behind my shop and the many restaurants." We're right there with ya, Ash! 👏 #foodfordays

Next time you're in South End stop by, say hi and get some amazing, fresh flowers for yourself. They're open Tuesday-Friday 10:00-6:00 and Saturdays 9:00-2:00!

Feature Friday: The Common Market

It's our favorite day of the week, Feature Friday! 🙌 Each week we'll be introducing you to our favorite spots in our hood! This week we're excited to be talking Common Market in South End!

Common Market.png

"Where an uncommon idea takes root into a common ground" couldn't be a better description of this South End gem. The Common Market originated in Plaza Midwood in 2002 and opened its original South End location shortly after in 2008. After an unforgettable run in South End, growth took over and an office space filled what once was a neighborhood go to for good times. Flash forward to today and THEY ARE BACK!

When you step through the doors of Common Market South End, you're instantly surrounded by funky decor, friendly neighbors (and astronauts), tasty beer, and delicious food. There’s a feel about the Common Market that you don’t feel just anywhere and that’s exactly what they’re aiming for. When asked what brought them back Graham Worth said “We opened the new South End with the intention of renewing the sense of community the old store brought to South End. What is great about the Common Market is that each store is unique in its own way from others- truly taking the character of the neighborhood. We provide the basic framework for a great retail experience in a funky, open environment and let the customers do the rest of the work to create the fabric of the individual store. And we are pumped to be back!” Well Graham, we are pumped to have you back!

Feature Friday: Enderly Coffee Co.

It's time for Feature Friday 🤗 This Friday we're raving about our friends at Enderly Coffee Company!⁣

We can't say enough good things about these guys and not just because they provide us with our daily caffeine fix at The Mill. They are local roasters who put their neighbors first, always. They've been roasting in Charlotte since 2012 and can be found all over the city (and at The Mill 😉) The best part? They just opened their first coffee shop on Tuckaseegee Rd! They're currently in their soft opening and we highly suggest you stop by and say hello!⁣

We're officially open! (and offering some great "first-mover" promos)

We're officially open! (and offering some great "first-mover" promos)

We couldn't be happier to finally be open here in South End! It was a long process getting everything setup and rolling but we made it. We couldn't be happier with the way the space has turned out and have been doing tours throughout the last couple of weeks as well as hosted an open house event where we've received tremendous positive feedback!

With our "GRAND OPENING" we're running some great promotions worth mentioning.
